Let's engage students in reflection and dialogue of the books they are reading during the next few months. This blog forum not only provides students a voice but encourages peers to provide constructive/descriptive feedback, making further connections to their reading experiences and asking questions along the way. Students write about what they are reading and include reading strategies such as inferencing, making connections, summarizing and/or evaluating the text.

When Rocket gets cut from his AAA bantam hockey team, he needs to re-evaluate his priorities.
Bryan Rockwood (aka "Rocket") is faced with the unthinkable: being cut from the Huskies — the AAA hockey team he has played on for three years. With no other teams interested in him, Bryan reluctantly joins a AA team, the Blues, at his best friend Maddy's insistence.
Things only get worse when Rocket sees that the Blues don't take hockey seriously. Facing the Huskies in the round robin will give Rocket the chance to prove his skills, but in order to keep his hockey dreams (and his friends) Rocket will have to realize that while hockey is his passion, it is not his entire life.

I LOVED IT
ReplyDeleteI LOVED the way all the action was described, it kept me on my toes the entire way thru the book. the book had a variety of feelings which made super duper interesting to read.
ReplyDeleteThis book was very good. It had an amazing plot and lots of action. I think that it had things that would happen in real life and described the feelings of the characters very accurately.
ReplyDeletethis book was a REALLY great read. It described how making a triple A (AAA) hockey team is unbelievably hard and that you have to take risks for the future.
ReplyDeleteI'm not really a hockey person but this book was actually pretty good! I could understand how Rocket felt throughout the storyline and he was really brave to keep playing. If I were him, I probably would have went home and gave up. This was a great read with lots of action and unexpected turns.

I liked this book a lot the first time I read it, but this time I found it was all just about hockey, hockey and more hockey and it did not hold my interest as much.

I liked this book a lot, even though I don't know a lot about hockey, because I think it really showed the hard ship and struggle that he faced, and how he persevered. I think that my favorite part was where the blues played the ravens, and won, because it was so exciting and detailed. In all, this was surprisingly one of my favorite books.

This book was a enjoyable read. I'm not a hockey person and the scenario did not interesting me, but David Skuy wrought in a way that any one could under stand. This book was very detailed,(like the hockey games Rocket had). I liked how Rocket never gave up on his dreams and kept persevering.

Rocket Blues was a good book, I enjoyed the personality of the main character Bryan/Rocket. Rocket stayed true to his team when they needed him most and never gave up trying out for teams. Even though he was cut in the beginning he kept on trying and eventually was a great success. In the end this book shows how a person who has a small voice always turns out to have the biggest of all. Sophia
