Let's engage students in reflection and dialogue of the books they are reading during the next few months. This blog forum not only provides students a voice but encourages peers to provide constructive/descriptive feedback, making further connections to their reading experiences and asking questions along the way. Students write about what they are reading and include reading strategies such as inferencing, making connections, summarizing and/or evaluating the text.
Non Fiction: Trash Talk
Book: Trash talk: moving toward a zero waste world
Author: Michelle Mulder
Link: coming soon...
Waste not, want not.
Humans have always generated garbage, whether it’s a chewed-on bone or a broken cell phone. Our landfills are overflowing, but with some creative thinking, stuff we once threw away can become a collection of valuable resources just waiting to be harvested. Trash Talk digs deep into the history of garbage, from Minoan trash pits to the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, and uncovers some of the many innovative ways people all over the world are dealing with waste.

This book was quite good. It gave you different ways to clean up garbage and save the environment and at different levels. This was helpful because you may not be able to create a network of recycling, but maybe passing on your well-loved things you are done with is easier for you.

This book was pretty good! I don't really usually like nonfiction books but this one had a lot of interesting facts. It was really inspiring and creative, like when it talked about how people made things a couple of centuries ago. Overall, I really liked this book! There was also another good one about water by the same person last year. I would recommend this to people who are into ecology.

This book was amazing! I learned a lot and now I have some energy and waste conservation tips. It taught me about how things were before and how they are now. Also I can now save things and know what to do with them when I don't want to waste. This book teaches you how to be eco-friendly and make a positive impact on the environment. Over all this book was very informative and I hope to read more from this author or series.
