Coping with the recent death of his father, twelve-year-old Jacob Mosher is sent to spend the summer with his aging, estranged (and strange!) grandparents in rural Newport Landing, Nova Scotia. Reluctantly, he trades the security of his foster mum in “Upper Canada” for a blind grandfather, Frank, who dresses like a sea captain and conducts flag-raising ceremonies, and a quirky grandmother, Pearl, who sometimes forgets her dentures and has Jacob running in circles. Jacob has two short months to figure out how to deal with his ailing grandfather, the surging Avon River tides, and the family secret that’s haunting his newfound grandparents. He didn’t expect so much danger and mystery to be lurking in tiny Newport Landing.

Jacob's Landing was a very good book, only I think that it was too similar to another book I read before, Between Shadows. This meant that I did not give Jacob's Landing a high mark as it would have.

  2. this was an AMAZING read and I love how the author explained how a disaster can separate family's and it's not hard to build back a bond even if you've never met them like Jacob and his grand parents they built an unbreakable bond with each other.

I really liked this book and I would recommend it to anyone. Jacob's Landing is about a boy who is coping with the loss of his father, and goes to live with his grandparents in Nova Scotia for a summer. While he's there he discovers lots of family secrets. This book is full of mysteries and surprises.

Jacob's landing is a great book. It was very descriptive and went back and forth between the present and the past. I enjoyed the way the author went from a good senario into a harmful situation. Jacob didn't find out about any of his fathers past and wasn't told about his grandparents until after his father died. This book was amazing and it is for people who enjoy realistic fiction and surprises.

  7. I didn't like Jacob's Landing as much as I enjoyed some of the other books. It was dull at the beginning, and only got interesting when Jacob's grandfather and Jacob got in the car crash. But I like how around the end, Pearl realized that she needed help, and everything got better. In all, I recommend it to people who like realistic fiction.

I didn't enjoy Jacob's landing as much. It was boring at the beginning and did not make much sence but near the end it got more interesting.I engoyed the part when Jacob and his friend ruby went mud sliding. I thought Jacob was going to find out more about his dad but he only found out about his dads brother. I recommend this book to people who likes realistic fiction.

Jacobs landing was very boring and a little confusing at the start. The first thing that actually happened other than at the very beginning was 100 pages in. Although of the lack of excitement, towards the end of the book it got very sad as Jacob learns secrets about his family. I recommend this book to people who like sad stories but a little bit of humor too but only if you are okay with not that exciting books.

I agree with Daniel, he makes a good point on the fact that this book wasn't very eventful, but was humorous and sad, I would definitely recommend this for people that like serious books.
