Eli Frieden lives in the most perfect town in the world: Serenity, New Mexico. In this idyllic place, every lawn is perfectly manicured and everyone has a pool and a treehouse. Honesty and integrity are valued above all else in Serenity. The thirty kids who live there never lie-they know it's a short leap from lying to the awful problems of other less fortunate places.

Eli has never left Serenity. Why would he want to? Then one day he cycles to the city limits, and something so crazy and unexpected happens, it changes everything. Eli convinces his friends to help him investigate further, and soon it becomes clear that nothing is as it seems in Serenity. The clues mount to reveal a shocking secret that connects their ideal, crime-free community to some of the greatest criminal masterminds ever known. The kids realize they can trust no one-least of all their own parents. So they hatch a plan for what could be the greatest breakout in history. But will they survive? And if they do, where will they go from there?

Masterminds was an amazing book. It was many different genres combined into one story. It started off with a perfect setting and gradually became more twisted and unlocked different secerets every turn. It is writtten from 4 different perspectives and each one is very different in many ways. Masterminds is a great read and it is full of suspence and cliffhangers.

Masterminds was a really good book! It starts off really well, all rainbows and sunshine. But then something happens to a kid named Eli and when he and his friends sneak around to try to find clues and information. They eventually find out a shocking, really creepy secret about the town, themselves, and ESPECIALLY their parents. Then they try to plan their escape and the adventure begins... I really loved this book even though it was kind of creepy and it took forever to find out who their parents are. This was one of my favourites, with a bunch of genres like action, adventure, sci-fi, mystery, and horror all in one, and I can't wait to find out what happens to the kids in the next book!

I meant ...when he and his friends sneak around to try to find clues and information, they... not information. They. Sorry :P

I loved this book soooooo much. It was really, really, really good. This would have been my favorite book if not for the ending. It gets you really hooked as the characters unravel the mystery of the strangely perfect town, it has action, suspense, and mystery and you can't stop reading, but then you finish the book and you're dying to know what happens next 'cause it's a CLIFFHANGER! If it ended better it would have been my favorite book but now it is my second favorite. I would highly recommend this book. Oh, and Gordan Korman, if you are reading this, please please please make another book.

This is my favourite book so far! I loved how every page kept you wanting to keep on reading, and so many of my questions were answered as I read along! I love how they found out that the town was not really so perfect as they though. I do hope that they make another book, though because they ended on such a cliffhanger. I hate cliffhangers but I think that I can make 1 exception.

I found this book interesting but I found it boring, I mean the story was okay but it was not a page turner, and when I was reading it I was dying for it to be over so I could get to my next book. I also found this book really cliché with the story and the characters. This year all the books were a little too cliché though.
